On the occasion of the opening of the ETH Studio Basels spring semester and the start of the re- search project ‚Rome - Adriatic‘, professor Luigi Snozzi will present a lecture exploring a relationship between architecture, urbanism and contemporary European territories.
The lecture will be followed by an apéro and the projection of ‚La Notte‘, by M. Antonioni.

Luigi Snozzi is one of the most influential architects, city planners and teachers in Ticino, Switzerland. Born in 1932 in Mendrisio, Swizerland, he studied with Livio Vacchini and Aurelio Galfetti at the ETH Zürich, and started his architectural practice in the late 1950s in Locarno. One of his most aclaimed works is the long term urban redevelopment of the histori- cal town Monte Carasso near Bellinzona, Ticino.

How many inhabitants would Buckminster Fuller’s Tetrahedron City house? What would
the density of Rem Koolhaas’ Exodus plan for London, or Superstudio’s Continuous Monument, have been had they ever been realized? How would they compare in scale to Kenzo Tange’s Tokyo Bay project, or to Corbusier’s Ville Radieuse? Whic of them would have comprised more green areas? 49 cities sets out to crunch the numbers of several centuries of unrealized urbanism, all the way from the ideal roman city to the great utopian projects of the 20th century. through plans, sections, charts and scale drawings, 49 cities are observed statistically and presented in an unprecedented comparative study, the result of a research project conducted over several years. Despite the fact that these cities never actually existed in their intended form, this overview of utopian urbanism provides a remarkable insight into our understanding of the contemporary metropolis.

Sie betreuen fünf Professoren und ein Team von ca. 12 Mitarbeitenden in allen administrativen Belangen und fungieren als kompetente Ansprechpartnerin zu internen und externen Stellen.Zu ihren Aufgaben gehört das Führen des Institutssekretariats (selbstständige Korrespondenz in D und E, Statistiken erstellen und prüfen, Büromaterialbeschaffung etc.) Sie erledigen die laufende Personal- und Finanzadministration selbständig. Hierzu gehören die Kredit- und Fondsüberwachung (SAP) und die Unterstützung der Finanzplanung. Sie beantworten allgemeine Anfragen (intern/extern), organisieren Termine (intern/extern), und erledigen den allgemeinen Schriftverkehr und allgemeine Administrations- sowie Sekretariatsaufgaben.
Neben dem Interesse an einem lebendigen, akademischen Betrieb bringen Sie eine fundierte    kaufmännische    Grundausbildung    mit.    Mehrjährige    Berufserfahrung    im Hochschulbereich ist von Vorteil. Sie arbeiten genau und selbständig; Ihr Arbeitsstil ist flexibel und sie sind bereit, Verantwortung zu übernehmen. Sie arbeiten vorausschauend und können externe Anfragen selbstständig beurteilen, und entsprechend ihrer Relevanz einordnen und w eiterleiten.    Sie    sind    kommunikativ    und    haben    gute    Englischkenntnisse    (m/s). Französischkenntnisse sind von Vorteil. Der Umgang mit MS-Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) bereitet Ihnen keinerlei Schwierigkeiten. Zudem sollten Kenntnisse in SAP vorhanden sein.
Das Institut befindet sich im Zentrum von Basel. Die Arbeitszeit verteilt sich auf vier Wochentage (Mo – Do). Darüber hinaus wünschen wir ein Interesse zu der Thematik unseres Arbeitsbereichs (Architektur und Städtebau).
